Dave Brown (MD) founded Frost Optical Services in 2006. The aim was to provide a comprehensive range of support services to optometrists across the UK. Fundamental to the company’s ethos is their passionate commitment to customer service, along with a proven track record for first time fixes.

Dave Brown says “I have over 25 years of experience in the optical industry. I gained extensive experience at Topcon and Keeler before moving on to launch Frost Optical Services. I have surrounded myself with a driven and committed team which share my passion for providing unrivalled support and guidance for our customers”.

When we first started in 2006, we had two technicians and one administration support. We now have 12 field engineers, 10 in house engineers and 10 admin support staff. Our technicians have a combined industry experience of over 120. We also offer technical phone support from our base in Wokingham.

In 2014 we moved from our old industrial unit at Maidenhead to our current modern spacious premises in Wokingham (6000 SQ feet). This allowed us to expand our business and customer support services. We now have a fully racked warehouse and our own fully equipped workshop. The workshop has the latest diagnostic and investigation equipment to pinpoint any faults and make the necessary repairs. In 2023 we took on another unit to allow us to cope with the expansion of our business.

We have long-standing relationships with most of the country’s largest retail optical chains whilst also providing first class personal support to many independent opticians.

We also support the NHS and diabetic screening services providing emergency and preventative optical support, in accordance with their strict servicing requirements.

Our nationwide network of technicians have many years of experience within the industry and hold recognised electrical and engineering qualifications. Frost also is keen to support and invest in people. Last year we had 2 engineers attend Basingstoke College of Technology on day release. We actively supported their development to gain a City and Guilds Engineering Diploma.

We have visited well over 1,000 different Practices and Clinics in the UK: arguably making us the most experienced support network in the UK optical industry.

Furthermore, in addition to our proud record of equipment servicing, we also supply new, refurbished, and reconditioned equipment including installation as required.

We also sell a very wide range of bulbs (over 50 different types) and consumables to support general day-to-day operations.

If you are relocating or having an on-site refurbishment, Frost Optical can support you with your equipment move. This may simply involve the transfer of kit from one room to another or, alternatively, transportation and re-installation of your equipment to any location across the UK.
